It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET). Since we believe that innovation is a journey - not a destination, Department of ECE at RUET is continuously being equipped with modern infrastructural facilities, updated course curriculum, enriched laboratory facilities, and air-conditioned classrooms with multimedia projectors to ensure quality of education. ECE department is working to produce proficient graduates who will be academically competent, ethically driven, and socially responsive citizen.

At present, human civilization is quite unthinkable without the existence of ECE and the unprecedented mobility of knowledge, technology, information and capital has redefined ECE recently. The Electrical & Computer Engineers are everywhere—in industry, communication networks, electronic circuits and systems, optics and photonics, semiconductor and solid-state devices, nano-electronics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, artificial intelligence, robotics, design and manufacturing, control and optimization, image processing systems, electrical machines, electromechanical equipment, biomedical engineering and many more. Therefore, Department of ECE has taken the challenge of producing quality graduates to cope up with the diverse fields of ECE locally and globally.

The Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a model of modern teaching-learning that rejects the traditional focus on what the school provides to students in the past. The OBE andragogical model helps students to demonstrate that they "know and are able to do" whatever the required outcomes are. Based on objectives of OBE, we review our curricula regularly and keep updated to accommodate the latest developments and breakthroughs in various fields of ECE. The syllabus focuses two major areas including electrical and computer engineering. The Department of ECE encourages various extra- and co-curricular activities through departmental club called ‘ECE Club’ that organizes study tours, seminars, workshops, and short courses on advanced topics in a regular basis.

Currently, the B.Sc. in ECE program, RUET is under the process of accreditation by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), IEB. The efficient and adequate size of teaching staff including several PhD holders from foreign universities has been engaged to prepare ECE graduates to be competent for the challenges of 21st century. Our teaching staff is dedicated to our students, inspiring to enjoy the course materials and hard-working for the students to cope up with the modern system and technology in the wide range of engineering fields.

Our andragogy approach of undergraduate teaching-learning is quite student-friendly. The ECE graduates of RUET are continually being engaged in various professional jobs, higher studies and start-ups at home and abroad. I would like to recommend and invite bright young students with higher ambition to join our well-established and sustainable B.Sc. in ECE program to lead the industry, academia and entrepreneurship.
